7Por último, la enfermedad del estómago más común y más enojosa es el relajamiento: designo con este nombre la impotencia de esta víscera para retener los alimentos, y cuya consecuencia es que el cuerpo al no recibir alimento se depaupera y se consume. En este caso los baños no son de ninguna utilidad, pero sí el leer en alta voz, el ejercitar las partes superiores, el emplear unturas y friegas, afusiones frías, el nadar en agua fría, el tomar duchas a la misma temperatura y dirigidas al estómago, o mejor aún, haciendo que desciendan desde los hombros hasta la región correspondiente a este órgano. Es saludable bañarse en fuentes frías y medicinales, como las de Cutilias y las de Sumbruinas.
Commentary
Recomendaciones para tratar el relajamiento o parálisis del estómago: recomienda aguas termales frías. Da a entender que balneum se refiere a baños con agua caliente.
